This collection of children's poetry was lovely. Full of rhyme and colorful imagery, I found myself reminiscing my elementary school days.Most of the pieces centered around the hopes, dreams & silly antics of children, but a few of them dealt with more somber subjects. Those poems were a nice reminder, that children are innocent, and can be seriously impacted by adult shenanigans.
These poems are extremely rhyme-y , in some cases they are downright limericks. I found myself almost singing them instead of reading them.
Poems From the Schoolyard is a simple and fun read, and would be a great book to use, to introduce elementary school aged children to the art of poetry.
